Audi A1 Sportback Concept

After the A1 Project Quattro from 2007, Audi presented the World 2008, a new design study on the A1: The A1 Sportback Concept. With 5 doors this time, the Sportback Concept is a small, compact and sporty clothing combining habitability. Driven by a hybrid engine, this little Audi has many technological innovations, including a multimedia system based mobile phones.

WLAN connection with his car!

At the base, simple tool that allows us to call off his home, the mobile phone has become a machine to do everything. AFN, multimedia playback, Internet, GPS is amazing what today's smartphones can do. Well, we have seen nothing yet! They are becoming the communication interface between the driver and his car. For its futuristic concept car, Audi presented a multimedia system equally innovative. The MMI multimedia system communicates via WLAN (wireless long distance) with a mobile phone.

Between the two counters, a color screen shows the information of the multimedia system

After downloading special software on the website of Audi, a mobile phone (many devices are suitable for these functions) can be used to control the multimedia system of the Audi A1 Sportback Concept. From home, the driver can enter a navigation path, adjust audio settings, and send them to the vehicle via the WLAN system MMI. Always with the WLAN, it has security features such as checking the closure of the doors, or return to his vehicle when in a parking lot. The software is very advanced. One parks his car in a parking program and the time limit for recovering (depending on the cost of parking for example). The software on the laptop will guide you to return to the parking taking account of the way and make the deadline.

No mechanical source, all multimedia data is provided by a mobile phone

The mobile phone is of course used media player to broadcast music and video it. The system can even build playlists based trips. For example, if you listen often pop on the highway, the system stores it, and will suggest music based on your journeys. The MMI unit of the vehicle has been improved to be more convenient driving. Four keys to fixed assignment (navigation, phone, automotive and media) are grouped around a rotary control. Thus a minimum of manipulation, we control the entire system. The backlight changes based menus used to make the system intuitive at a glance. Without mechanical elements, the CPU has a nice screen with three dimensional effect.

Modern design, the interior is as functional and intuitive means

Various multimedia functions (music, navigation, telephone, ...) are placed in a semicircle on the screen. Just manipulate the knob to scroll. The icon that is at the center, is then activated, a solution reminiscent of the iPod system. It's intuitive and practical. For added convenience, a color screen offers the same features as the centerpiece of the counter block. An excellent solution to allow the driver to have the navigation in its field of vision. Of course, a steering wheel is also present. Brief an innovative system which shows once again that the mobile phone is set to become the basis of a car multimedia system. Somehow it has a very practical side. One device contains all our data (addresses, phones, music, videos, ...). The multimedia unit of the car becomes a simple interface used to repeat the contents of our phone. Even if this dislike for music lovers, manufacturers increasingly are studying what kind of system. The Geneva show will tell us perhaps more!
