Citroën to 19 ° weekend green technology for the reduction of CO2 emissions

The traditional annual meeting with the press, in collaboration with Michelin, the brand presents three models of the DS, with a dynamic test of Citroën DS4, during commercial launch in recent weeks and the static display of the Citroën DS3 'latest addition to Citroën DS5. Citroën DS5, marks a new phase in the development of distinctive line. This line, completed in less than 2 years, joins the main range and is targeted at customers looking for a modern approach to the universe Premium. A year and a half since the launch of the Citroën DS3 over 100 000 sales. A few months after the sale, Citroen DS4 nearly 15 000 orders in 2500 in Italy. The first two vehicles, Citroën DS3 and DS4, aroused great enthusiasm in Italy and throughout Europe, demonstrating that the courageous decision to support the Our main range with a distinctive line of vehicles has been a winning move. The success of the DS, a direct competitor to premium brands, clearly demonstrates that the brand is growing.

Now, as announced, comes a third model to complete the online DS Citroën DS5. In a few days to begin road testing, conducted at the international level, and the car will be in showrooms in early 2012. 2 Citroën DS5 is a sculpture that combines aerodynamic French elegance and luxury car at the highest levels, all enriched by the innovative spirit typical of the brand.

DS5 Citroën inaugurates the innovative full hybrid drivetrain of the brand, which combines an engine to the HDi diesel electric propulsion. The technology combines Hybrid4 performance (200 hp, 4 wheel drive, electric mode while driving in the city, boost acceleration in Sport mode) to reduced CO2 emissions (99 g / km).

The originality of the technology full hybrid is a combination of several technologies:
- Heat engine 2.0 HDi 160 FAP
- Stop & Start system with a reversible alternator second generation
- Currency controlled 6-speed optimized
- synchronous electric motor with permanent magnets, located in a special rear axle, capable
of developing 27 kW (37 hp) of power,
- The Power Train Management Unit, automatically manages the operating modes of the two
engines to help reduce consumption.
The driver has 4 operating modes :
- mode 'Auto' automatically handles switching between combustion engine and electric motor, to
focus on reducing consumption.
- mode 'Zero Emission Vehicle' (ZEV) allows you to ride on electric power alone, with
speeds not exceeding 60 km / h.
- mode '4 WD 'privileges the motor operates continuously, and the 4 wheels of the vehicle (wheels
front with the engine, the rear electric motor) with speeds up to 120
km / h.
- mode 'Sports' promotes responsiveness and dynamism than using the electric motor,
motor mount heat.

Our range includes electric vehicles (C-ZERO), designed for use mainly urban, with 2 600 units already sold in Europe. Another fundamental solution is the use of hybrid propulsion. Last year we launched the micro-hybrid technology-and HDi, the best on the market. This first level of hybrid technology equipping almost all vehicles in our range, with the result of 3 effective reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The latest in this area is micro-hybrid technology equipped Citroën C3 HDi E-70, with CO2 emissions of 87g/km, among the lowest in its category. With the extension of the micro-hybrid HDi all its models and the launch of Citroën C-ZERO in 2010 more than half the cars sold by Citroën in this year produce less than 130 g / km of CO2. The reduction of 5 grams of the average level of CO2 emissions of the whole of its range in Europe confirms the goodness of the strategy undertaken.
