By studying A2 concept, Audi turns his attention to electric vehicles in the metropolis of the future. The A2 is a premium vehicle concept for large urban centers: a purely electric drive, spacious, quiet and with a classical conception of space. This study is full of interesting and intelligent technology solutions. Its innovative chassis - a development of extremely lightweight Audi - allowed to keep the weight at 1,150 kg. The Audi technology allow you to connect to connect to the internet, steering and brakes are all-electric actuation (by wire). The concept Audi A2 Audi demonstrates the ability of designers to work on a compact size. It is 3,804 mm long, 1,693 wide and 1,494 high, and is elegant, powerful and sporty on the road. The clean aesthetic concentrate on the essentials, as in the style of the brand. The show car is painted in white electric mat. Matt is also the glass roof, which can be made transparent by pressing a button. By applying a certain voltage, the particles embedded in glass are arranged in such a way that let the light through the glass panel without any refraction. If the glass is obscured, however, almost completely blocks the infrared band of sunlight. This creates a shadow in the cockpit, making an important contribution to the efficient management of the temperature concept in the Audi A2.
On the front of this concept stands, as in any Audi, the single-frame grille, in a special version designed specifically for electric-powered vehicle. The upper two thirds of the grid are closed, the surface can be folded and hides the attack to charge and the nozzle of the coolant. The four Audi rings are depicted in a plastic manner, the engine compartment lid is screwed to the body.
At the bottom of the single-frame, which serves as the air intake, are housed the very efficient cooling elements in the expanded graphite: the slight mineral water dissipates the heat well, and ceded to the ambient air. In the central air intake is located eight blocks, each with six elements of graphite.
Another component of the A2 concept art is represented by the headlights with new LED technology, the so-called "Matrix Beam". A small beam of light emitting diodes produce light of the overlapping beam and high beam. Of microriflettori then allow to direct accurately. The LEDs can be switched on and off individually, so as to illuminate the road so perfect in every circumstance. Numerous mini-LEDs, arranged in the lower area of the lighthouse, form the daytime running lights. The side view is typical Audi style: with powerful wheel arches, a narrow windows and a roof line that, by degrading, at the ends of the rear spoiler elongated shape. Convex metal surfaces contain sharp lines full of tension. The dynamic line above the threshold is raised in a clear way, the tornado line below the windows up smoothly. Immediately below it are a characteristic feature of the concept Audi A2: Audi dynamic light, a bright band connecting the headlights with the taillights.
The Audi dynamic light consists of light emitting diodes, and photoconductors. At rest this range, a few inches high, is black. When the owner approaches, the band of blue lights, in greeting, and focuses on the handles, recessed inside, coming out when they are touched with the hand.
When the A2 concept is in motion, the dynamic light is illuminated light orange. When you turn on turn signals, flashing on the corresponding side, and when you brake, on the side runs a red light pulse, a signal to other road users.
Also for the rear lights have been used in the Matrix Beam Technology. They operate in an adaptive manner. Through a sensor system determines the visibility, by adjusting the brightness of the headlights.
Each rear fog light is composed of five laser lights. When visibility is good, the light beam is not visible. With the fog and rain but becomes clearly audible in the form of a triangle, because it hits the water particles in the air.
Even the interior reflects the philosophy that underpins the Audi A2 concept: they are light, tasteful, spacious and intuitive to use. The dashboard is divided into two parts, the left-field extends in a semicircle in front of the driver. Along the edges of the Audi dynamic light flows into two separate arcs that go from door to the cockpit area. Like the bright band outside, it welcomes the driver with a greeting.
The architecture exploits the possibilities offered by the car electric traction. On the floor is missing the center console, this console between the front seats can be lowered, thus increasing freedom of movement. The cold and warm air are distributed in an indirect way and no current through a perforated surface that is under the windshield.
The steering wheel of the Audi A2 concept, connected to the steering column from a single race, flattened above and below. The two handles, facing inwards, have touch-sensitive surfaces, through which you can control the most important functions. Only the functions of the direction indicators and windscreen wipers are controlled by the traditional levers on the steering wheel.
If you touch the two touchpad simultaneously, the A2 switches into a concept partially autonomous driving modes: comfort that a function is very convenient especially when traffic is slowed. However, the driver always retains full control of the vehicle, as is the case with today's ACC Stop & Go, which is the basis of new technology.
An open profile-shaped shell, which acts as a steering column, scroll horizontally to the cockpit. At one end there is a seven-inch display, flanked by two secondary displays: the speed indicator and the indicator of power, the so-called "PowerMeter." When you activate the electric drive by pressing the button, the driver and passengers are surrounded by a bright band on the right side of the steering wheel and get up two touchpad. The small area on the left is for the management of speed ranges (shift-by-wire), that great right for air conditioning and multimedia functions. The console, which can be defined as hidden between the seats, has a different touch pad for entering characters and the secondary functions: development of today's MMI. The controls are complemented by a docking station for the iPhone.
The show car is equipped with all technologies connect Audi. The Bluetooth car phone line connects to the Internet via a UMTS module. A hotspot (WLAN) allows passengers to surf and send and receive
e-mails through their mobile devices. With a high-speed data link you receive on-board news and information expressly prepared. For navigation services are available to current Audi: the map with Google Earth images, traffic information online, search for points of interest with voice commands through Google and Google Street View.
With their backs pierced the four individual seats in the Audi A2 concept, in addition to being extremely light, giving a sporty touch to the interior. Their frame is aluminum. For the shells, designers have used plastic materials subjected to the process of blowing. Each seat is attached to the bottom of the passenger compartment of three bars. It follows that the rear footwell is more spacious. Under the lift-up seat seats are storage compartments.
Between the two rear seats is a console with storage compartments. If you lean back on, it opens a space to accommodate the forks of a special city bike. The luggage compartment of the Audi A2 concept has a double bottom. The cargo area is covered by a frame below lift with two very strong networks.
The colors and materials for the interior accentuate the impression of lightness and functionality. The large surfaces, the upper edges of the sides to the floor, have the effect of coatings resistant neoprene. In the central area of the floor is of corrugated material produced from recycled polyester. The cockpit is enhanced by aluminum applications.
The Audi A2 is a concept car with electric traction only. Its lithium-ion batteries, located under the floor, can accumulate up to 31 kWh of energy, of which 24 kW are available for use. The electric motor, mounted transversely in front of the car, transmits, through a single speed gearbox, 116 hp (85 kW) peak power (60 kW continuous) and 270 nm as peak torque (160 Nm available permanently ) to the front wheels.
According to the NEDC the autonomy of this study is 200 km. Using a three-phase current at 400 volts, the battery is fully charged in about 1.5 hours. With a standard 230 volt current takes approximately four hours. The Audi A2 concept is already prepared for the new technique of non-contact charging (Audi Wireless Charging).
This show car does not weigh more than 1,150 kg. In this context, the most important factor is the body that represents the state of the art in Audi's lightweight structure. The A2 is the first concept model that combines the ASF and the composite structure, which are associated with different materials. In this case, the important parts of the body are formed of aluminum components, and associated equipment are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP).
The Audi A2 is a concept car that is agile. Accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.3 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 150 km / h for not sacrificing too much autonomy. The McPherson front suspension and rear axle to enhance maneuverability interconnected arms.
The steering and brakes work electrically (steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire) and can dispense with mechanical and hydraulic connections respectively with the steering wheel and pedal.
The 18-inch wheels are made with a technology called "cladding": alloy wheels and rims the base of coverage are built separately and then glued to each other, with a considerable saving of material. The new hybrid technology, offered by Audi are standard on some models, it saves about two pounds of weight per wheel. The wheels combine the special concept of the A2-plate look-tron of the family and spoke design with classic Audi.
