New engines for the Opel Insignia 2012

Since its launch, the Insignia has received more than 50 national and international awards, including the most prestigious title of "Car of the Year 2009". Customers have confirmed the critical acclaim with a sustained demand - up to now the flagship of the brand sales have exceeded 400,000 units. Thanks to new petrol engines and technology, the Insignia is set to continue its history of success with the model year 2012. Prices from 25.900 Euros 1.4 petrol turbo engine newly developed, is the product of a "downsizing" without compromise. Because it is the greenest petrol engine in the D segment, together with six-speed manual transmission, the device Start / Stop, the electric power steering, aerodynamic underbody coating and 225/50 R 17 tires low rolling resistance.

Taken together, these actions reduce the sedan version of two liters per hundred kilometers fuel consumption of the turbo 1.4, which drops to 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers. The fall in CO2 emissions to 134 grams per kilometer. The torque from the gasoline engine more environmentally friendly in its segment increases instead of almost 15 percent, and now is 200 Nm.

With these values, the Insignia 1.4 Turbo can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 10.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 km / h. The flagship model of Opel House is available with this engine in sedan or Sports Tourer as well as the latter, with a consumption of 5.9 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions to 139 g / km, is at the top the station wagon segment.

Among the optimizations introduced in the new engine there are new reports of transmission, which help to reduce consumption and improve the agility of the car. The electric power steering REPS (Electric Power Steering Assist Rack) mounted for the first time Insignia, ensures maximum comfort, with the ability to adapt its characteristics even more flexibly to any driving situation. A significant advantage of the REPS system is the potential fuel savings, and therefore a reduction of CO2 emissions, because it does not always rely on the hydraulic pump is used, but the electric power steering system is running only when needed.

2.0 turbo 4 × 4: more power and torque, less fuel consumption

The two-liter turbocharged direct injection associated with the advanced four-wheel drive becomes part of the new version with 30 hp more power. It 'available with AWD six-speed manual transmission. The 185 kW/250 hp engine delivers a maximum torque of 400 Nm (350 Nm compared to the previous). This powerful engine with manual transmission is able to shoot from 0 to 100 km / h in just 7.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h.

The turbocharged 2-liter, shows impressively that it is possible to increase power while reducing fuel consumption. Through significant interventions such as insertion of the device Start / Stop and the adoption of low-rolling resistance tires, Opel engineers have managed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions to 8.4 l/100 km and 197 g / km (previous data: 8.9 l/100 km, 209 g / km CO2). With increased power and torque and a more pronounced dynamic, as well as the simultaneous reduction of fuel consumption, the Insignia 2.0 Turbo 4 × 4 convinces by its performance at the top of the average premium in the segment.

The device Opel Start / Stop different motors

Device Start / Stop Opel appears only on the two units mentioned above. The turbocharged 2.0 kW/220 hp from 162 front-wheel drive and six-speed manual gearbox will be available soon in fact, with this smart technology that saves fuel, as well as being coated with an aerodynamic underbody and low rolling resistance tires. The decreased consumption of 0.5 liters and down to 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers. The device start / stop is at its peak in urban traffic, where you can save up to one liter per 100 kilometers. The combined cycle CO2 emissions are reduced accordingly to 179 grams per kilometer than the previous 189.

New infotainment systems

The new infotainment Ships and Boats 600 900 Europe are further advanced than earlier versions that work with CD or DVD in the range of features offered. The maps are contained on an SD card, and can be tailored to meet individual customer requirements. In addition to the predefined points of interest (POIs), you can download more and save on your system. The driver can select individual points of interest and store them in the phone book as individual POIs. Another practical element: in addition to the fastest route and the shortest, the navigator also allows you to choose the most economical, ie the one with the lowest fuel consumption. The system ships 900 Europe also offers a voice recognition function and diary, the latter with the ability to distinguish between private and business trips. The proximity of points of interest is communicated to the driver via an audible signal, a text or a popup. Starting from the preparation "elective" is also available Infinity audio system particularly high quality.

The front camera with additional features Opel

Insignia also offers other enhancements on the new version with regard to safety. The new Opel Eye front camera, used for the recognition of traffic signs and warning in case of accidental passing lane, now also the indication of the distance from the car in front (Following Distance Indication) translated in seconds. This function is activated automatically from a speed of 40 km / h and helps the driver avoid collisions and fines for non-compliance of the safety distance. The Forward Collision Alert informs the driver on the instrument panel in a visual and an audible alarm of a possible impending collision with the car in front. In addition, the front camera is available on request along with the AFL + serves as a High Beam Assist for the automatic headlamp beam switching based on the presence of other vehicles.
