New Porsche 911

At 48 years, the Porsche Carrera 911 is younger than ever: the redesigned icon-generation sports car is going to once again draw attention to itself, with its elongated silhouette and low, the exciting form and details defined with a precision unmatched, remaining, however, at first glance, clearly a 911. In fact, in line with the tradition of the 911, the distinctive design language Porsche, muscular and agile, expresses power and elegance. The longer wheelbase of 100 mm and height loss combined with rims up to 20 inches, enhances the figure sports the new 911 while maintaining at the same time, the compact exterior dimensions typical of a sports car. The frontal view of the new 911 features a unique design that emphasizes the fact that once the front track is wider, so as to make the new models in the Carrera more firmly anchored to the road. The exterior mirrors are newly designed and housed on the top edge of the door and not, as previously, to the window. This favors not only the aerodynamic profile, but also underlines the new design and the visual impression of a larger size.

The lightweight body, completely new, a combination of aluminum and steel which allowed ac-already a significant weight reduction of up to 45 kg. The aerodynamic optimization, which includes a large rear spoiler extension to variable, and also helps to reduce the importance of the new 911 is to maintain an excellent drag coefficient.

To be in line with the modern exterior design, Porsche designers have created an interior whose architecture is inspired by the Porsche Carrera GT. The driver is more highly integrated with the carrier through the front center console that emerges in a higher position, a lever of a manual gearbox or the PDK placed particularly close mind to the steering, as well as in the style of motorsport. Other aspects of the classic Porsche tradition can be found inside and outside: the instrument panel with five instruments including a high-resolution multifunction display, the central rev counter and the insertion of the ignition key to the left of the steering wheel .

Reference point for generations for their category, the new 911 Carrera and Carrera S are increasing their performance and their efficiency. All versions run through much less than 100 km with 10 liters of gasoline. The fuel consumption and emissions are up to 16% lower compared to previous versions. Between what contributes to the achievement of these results, there is an auto start / stop, engine thermal management, intelligent management of the load of the alternator, the seven-speed manual transmission (the first in the world) and the possibility of sailing if the car is equipped with Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK). In addition, the new electro-mechanical power steering system gives the driver not only the typical Porsche precision and feedback, but also helps to increase the efficiency of the 911 and reduce consumption of gasoline. For example, the 911 Carrera with the new boxer engine 3.4 liters and 350 hp and the optional PDK consumes 8.2 liters per 100 km based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), ie 1.6 l/100 km less than the previous model. With values of 194 g / km CO2, but Porsche is the primary sport to fall below 200 g / km. Similarly in the Carrera S with its 3.8-liter boxer engine now capable of 400 hp, gasoline consumption, when coupled with the PDK option, are reduced by 14% (or 1.5 l/100 km) to reach the 8.7 / 100 km, despite an increase in power of 15 hp and CO2 emissions of 205 g / km.

At the same time are performance improvements in both models. The Carrera S with PDK can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds. Pressing the Sport Plus is available with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the time is reduced to 4.1 seconds. La Carrera with PDK, however, takes only 4.6 seconds (4.4 seconds Sport Plus) to take a standstill to 100 km / h.

The new 911 not only offers better longitudinal dynamics, but also greater performance in terms of lateral dynamics. In addition to a longer wheelbase, greater agility, precision and driving stability are based among other things, the front track wider, the new rear axle and electro-mechanical power steering system. Depending on the model, there are other active control systems as standard or optional features that enhance driving dynamics. This is particularly true for the active stabilization system, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) is available for the first time on the 911 Carrera S. The system reduces the lateral tilt during cornering, allowing tires to be always in good position in re-lation to the surface of the road and can transmit more lateral force. The maximum cornering speeds have increased, and consequently are also possible journey times faster on the track.

With the new 911 was now possible to emphasize more seemingly contradictory characteristics, such as performance and efficiency, sportiness and everyday convenience-na, which have always characterized the Porsche 911. This makes it more than ever, the 911-Car Herrera a 911. The new Porsche 911 Carrera celebrates its world premiere at the IAA 2011, the Frankfurt International Motor Show. The launch of new models of the 911 is pre-visa on 3 December. The prices in Italy are of 87,212.00 Euros for the 911 Carrera and Carrera 100,412.00 Euros for S 911, including VAT and specific market.
