Porsche Macan: The New Generation will be Electric

Porche Macan

The future of Porsche is electrified: after the launch of Taycan at the end of 2019 (and the derivative Cross Tourism in the following months), the Zuffenhausen manufacturer will continue its strategy, transforming the next generation of the Macan SUV into a totally electric model .

To announce it is the same Porsche in an official press release, in which the details of this model are outlined: like the Taycan electric sedan, even the new Macan will be built around an architecture with 800 V technology , which should make the SUV compatible with high power charging systems up to 350 kW. The starting point, however, will be the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) , developed in four hands with the "cousins" of Audi exclusively for electric vehicles.

German Porche Factory

There production of the new zero-emission SUV will take place in the same German factory in Leipzig where the current generation of Macan is produced. A factory created in 2000 to house the production of the first Cayenne (since 2002) and which has gradually expanded in the following years: today, 90,000 cars are being rolled out in Lipsia each year , including Macan, Cayenne and Panamera.

Porsche will therefore continue to invest in order to grow the Leipzig plant: in total, by 2022 the brand will invest more than 6 billion euros in electric mobility. The goal is ambitious: 50% of Porsche production in 2025 will have an electric powertrain . This does not mean that we will no longer see internal combustion engines: Porsche will work at optimizing petrol engines | Porsche says goodbye to Diesel | and the continuous improvement of plug-in hybrid vehicles .

Porsche Cayenne GTS, the sporty SUV

The SUV can offer the pleasure of driving a sports car comes to the second generation. At the 2012 Beijing Auto Show in China, celebrated the world debut of the Porsche Cayenne GTS. The concept: Focus on Performance. The formula: engine power higher, more dynamic development of power, stiffer chassis with lowered suspension, sports equipment markedly. The new Cayenne GTS is not, therefore, simply a connecting link between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, but it is clearly distinguishable from other models for its special character. Under the bonnet of the Cayenne GTS is placed a V8 engine 4.8-liter powered, capable of delivering 420 hp (309 kW) and derived from the engine of the Cayenne S. The transmission is assigned to the 8-speed Tiptronic S transmission with Auto Start-Stop integrated.

Particularly dynamic setting of the engine and transmission characteristics strongly emphasizes the sports car of ensuring rapid gear changes at any time. The Cayenne GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds from 0 to 160 km / h in 13.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 261 km / h. Fuel consumption in the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) is equal to 10.7 liters per 100 kilometers. The specially developed chassis ensures exciting driving dynamics: characterized by a more rigid and equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) , with the body lowered by about 24 millimeters lower than the Cayenne S, Cayenne GTS step closer to the road, giving the typical gait agile and powerful sports car.

Externally, the Cayenne GTS expresses its strong sporting personality through elements such as teeth recovered from the Cayenne Turbo front bumper, frames and strips in glossy black, matte pronounced sills, wheel arch extensions and a distinctive roof spoiler with a double wing profile. Inside the GTS dominates the sporting elegance afforded by the standard leather interior with Alcantara elements. The equipment of the new Cayenne GTS also includes front sports seats with eight-way adjustment.

New Porsche 911

At 48 years, the Porsche Carrera 911 is younger than ever: the redesigned icon-generation sports car is going to once again draw attention to itself, with its elongated silhouette and low, the exciting form and details defined with a precision unmatched, remaining, however, at first glance, clearly a 911. In fact, in line with the tradition of the 911, the distinctive design language Porsche, muscular and agile, expresses power and elegance. The longer wheelbase of 100 mm and height loss combined with rims up to 20 inches, enhances the figure sports the new 911 while maintaining at the same time, the compact exterior dimensions typical of a sports car. The frontal view of the new 911 features a unique design that emphasizes the fact that once the front track is wider, so as to make the new models in the Carrera more firmly anchored to the road. The exterior mirrors are newly designed and housed on the top edge of the door and not, as previously, to the window. This favors not only the aerodynamic profile, but also underlines the new design and the visual impression of a larger size.

The lightweight body, completely new, a combination of aluminum and steel which allowed ac-already a significant weight reduction of up to 45 kg. The aerodynamic optimization, which includes a large rear spoiler extension to variable, and also helps to reduce the importance of the new 911 is to maintain an excellent drag coefficient.

To be in line with the modern exterior design, Porsche designers have created an interior whose architecture is inspired by the Porsche Carrera GT. The driver is more highly integrated with the carrier through the front center console that emerges in a higher position, a lever of a manual gearbox or the PDK placed particularly close mind to the steering, as well as in the style of motorsport. Other aspects of the classic Porsche tradition can be found inside and outside: the instrument panel with five instruments including a high-resolution multifunction display, the central rev counter and the insertion of the ignition key to the left of the steering wheel .

Reference point for generations for their category, the new 911 Carrera and Carrera S are increasing their performance and their efficiency. All versions run through much less than 100 km with 10 liters of gasoline. The fuel consumption and emissions are up to 16% lower compared to previous versions. Between what contributes to the achievement of these results, there is an auto start / stop, engine thermal management, intelligent management of the load of the alternator, the seven-speed manual transmission (the first in the world) and the possibility of sailing if the car is equipped with Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK). In addition, the new electro-mechanical power steering system gives the driver not only the typical Porsche precision and feedback, but also helps to increase the efficiency of the 911 and reduce consumption of gasoline. For example, the 911 Carrera with the new boxer engine 3.4 liters and 350 hp and the optional PDK consumes 8.2 liters per 100 km based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), ie 1.6 l/100 km less than the previous model. With values of 194 g / km CO2, but Porsche is the primary sport to fall below 200 g / km. Similarly in the Carrera S with its 3.8-liter boxer engine now capable of 400 hp, gasoline consumption, when coupled with the PDK option, are reduced by 14% (or 1.5 l/100 km) to reach the 8.7 / 100 km, despite an increase in power of 15 hp and CO2 emissions of 205 g / km.

At the same time are performance improvements in both models. The Carrera S with PDK can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds. Pressing the Sport Plus is available with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the time is reduced to 4.1 seconds. La Carrera with PDK, however, takes only 4.6 seconds (4.4 seconds Sport Plus) to take a standstill to 100 km / h.

The new 911 not only offers better longitudinal dynamics, but also greater performance in terms of lateral dynamics. In addition to a longer wheelbase, greater agility, precision and driving stability are based among other things, the front track wider, the new rear axle and electro-mechanical power steering system. Depending on the model, there are other active control systems as standard or optional features that enhance driving dynamics. This is particularly true for the active stabilization system, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) is available for the first time on the 911 Carrera S. The system reduces the lateral tilt during cornering, allowing tires to be always in good position in re-lation to the surface of the road and can transmit more lateral force. The maximum cornering speeds have increased, and consequently are also possible journey times faster on the track.

With the new 911 was now possible to emphasize more seemingly contradictory characteristics, such as performance and efficiency, sportiness and everyday convenience-na, which have always characterized the Porsche 911. This makes it more than ever, the 911-Car Herrera a 911. The new Porsche 911 Carrera celebrates its world premiere at the IAA 2011, the Frankfurt International Motor Show. The launch of new models of the 911 is pre-visa on 3 December. The prices in Italy are of 87,212.00 Euros for the 911 Carrera and Carrera 100,412.00 Euros for S 911, including VAT and specific market.
