Chevrolet Miray, the concept that strengthens the bond between car and driver

Presented for the first time at the Seoul Motor Show in March, the concept Chevrolet Miray reinterpreted in a fresh and modern stylistic elements typical of Chevrolet makes some on the sports tradition of the house. The Miray is driven by two electric motors placed before 15 kW battery that provide rapid acceleration and zero emissions in urban driving. "'Miray' is a Korean word, meaning 'the future'. This concept strengthens the bond between car and driver and is understood in a fresh and bright as could be the sport of the future, " says Brannon. "Many components used in the transmission group engine derived from our systems. The Miray demonstrates how you can extend and improve existing propulsion technologies. "

The Miray is a small, open car, like the Monza SS 1963, and light and personal Corvair Super Spyder as of 1962, and is characterized by the aerodynamic fuselage reminiscent of modern fighters. The grid is defined by split headlights with LED daytime running lights new. The front and rear fenders are reminiscent of the Chevrolet Corvette's past and enhance the sporting spirit of this concept. The spoiler at the ends of carbon fiber help control the air flow and downforce. From above, the cabin features an original diamond shape.

The side wedge is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and carbon fiber. The angular lines outlined by the ambient light creates a sleek streak of light when the car is moving, filling with light and heat his sculpted forms. The Le Mans-style scissor doors emphasize the aspect of Miray racers. At the rear, the lights placed beneath the surface of the ducktail recall the typical elements split Chevrolet. The Miray mounted 20-inch front wheels and rear 21-inch composite made of aluminum and carbon fiber. The theme evokes the movement of the turbine, even when the Miray is stopped.

An elegant interior

The interior of the Miray is characterized by a mix of brushed aluminum, natural leather, fabric and white Liquidmetal alloy for a sculptural effect overall speed. The passenger compartment is surrounded by a shell of carbon fiber, which provides a light and rigid at the same time. The enveloping dashboard takes its inspiration from a split iconic cars like the Chevrolet Corvette: it is built around the driver and the passenger experience involves driving. The designers have adopted a rear projection system on the instrument panel, an original approach for displaying information that has been divided into three areas, to eliminate unnecessary visual disturbances and allow to focus on the emotion of driving. The touch screen is part of a central aluminum support reminiscent of the tip of a fighter plane with the landing gear lowered. The outer surface is bound in reinforced and continues in the center console, an important element that joins the front and rear of the car. The interior lighting, which starts from the upper instrument panel and reaches the area of the seat, conveys a feeling of luxury. Padding of the seats and headrests are united by a thin shell of carbon fiber and are mounted on a single aluminum rail. The headrests follow the shape of the body, and have a system for guiding outdoor air scarf. Of particular interest is the central start button. When activated, the set of instruments mounted on a retractable column rises like the cover of a single-seat aircraft and the white surface is an "interactive projection." Retractable rear cameras, which replace traditional mirrors, electrically protrude from the side windows. During city driving, the front camera works with the GPS navigation information to overlay the real images.

The propulsion system is flexible, in line with the character of Miray futuristic

Propulsion system "semi-electric" of Miray, mainly positioned behind and below the driver, was designed to maximize performance and fuel economy. The two front electric motors from 15 kW are powered by a lithium ion battery that is charged by the 1.6 kW brake energy regeneration. And 'possible to go from front to rear wheel drive. A turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mounted behind the driver's seat is associated with electric motors to improve performance, ensuring a bright pair and integrating seamlessly with the electrical system to set new standards in the compact roadster segment. The dual-clutch transmission eliminates the need for a torque converter, allowing you to reduce the size of the engine. The gear changes are quick and safe, thanks to relationships required to achieve maximum speed in high performance mode. The automatic start / stop comes into operation with the dual clutch transmission.
