Ampera is the first European manufacturer of an electric vehicle that allows you to "go anywhere at any time" and that will be available at dealerships later this year and in Italy at the beginning of 2012. It fits perfectly with the slogan of this year's IAA "Zukunft serienmäßig" which translates as "the future of the series." A lithium ion battery powers the 16-kW electric drive unit from 111 kW/150 hp. Depending on driving style, road surface and temperature, provides 40 to 80 miles of pure electrical functionality with zero emissions - sufficient for most daily routes in Europe. Thanks to the device to extend the back, you can drive over 500 km without stopping at a gas station.
