The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Drives: New petrol and diesel engines
The new compact of the Star, on sale next month of September, offers a wide range of engines, petrol and diesel, and is able to satisfy every spettativa power, setting new standards in terms of efficiency and emissions for the first time with A 180 CDI, the emissions of a Mercedes-Benz will be just 98 g CO2/km. In addition, the A 220 CDI is already compliant with the Euro 6 emission. All engines in the new A-Class is equipped as standard with the ECO start / stop. The motors can be fitted with the new 6-speed manual transmission or, on request, the new dual-clutch automatic transmission 7G-DCT, able to combine comfort and sportiness in a very particular way.

Reduction in consumption of up to 26% over the previous model, against a far superior power: that's the outcome of the new range of engines available for the Class A.

In the new range of diesel engine OM 607 series base delivers 80 kW (109 hp) and 260 Nm of torque to the crankshaft and, with manual transmission consumes 3.8 l/100 km, compared to emissions of 98 g CO2 / km. It is therefore an improvement of 22% over the previous model A 160 CDI, whose power was only 60 kW (82 hp) and consumes 4.9 liters. The new A 220 CDI diesel, top of the range, rather than the even exceeds its predecessor by 25%, delivering 125 kW (170 hp), 350 Nm of torque and, in combination with the dual-clutch automatic transmission 7G- DCT, boasts fuel consumption of just 4.3 l/100 km (provisional figure). The data relating to its predecessor were A 200 CDI were as follows: 103 kW (140 hp), 5.7-liter, 149 g CO2/km.

Example of the results obtained for the petrol engines, the comparison between the new A 200 with the one used so far: with 115 kW (156 hp) and 250 Nm of torque, the new model stands out for unprecedented driving performance and fuel economy of 5.5 l/100 km (129 g CO2/km), represents a reduction of 26% over the previous model (100 kW, 185 Nm, 7.4 l/100 km, 174 g CO2/km). The new top model with 7G-DCT, 155 kW (211 hp), 350 Nm of torque and fuel consumption of 1.6 l/100 km compared to CO2 emissions of 143 g, is considerably more efficient. Such exemplary efficiency we must not only to the use of new engines and transmissions. Thanks to the modular system for diesel and petrol is in fact been possible to choose the change from time to time the most suitable. To complete the package also contribute significantly aerodynamics with a value equal to 0.27 cx and a number of other optimizations.

With excellent driving performance, high efficiency and minimal exhaust emissions, the new four-cylinder Mercedes-Benz put in their class. Convince the extremely silent operation and high power output, ensuring even the most demanding customers exceptional driving experience.

On the security front, the new Class A features unreleased driver assistance systems, exclusive to this segment and inherited by the higher ranges, for example, ATTENTION ASSIST, DISTRONIC PLUS system, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Speed Limit Assist (recognition of road signs).
