Audi A4 2008 Car Audio Review

Audi A4 offers technological innovations on the mechanical, comfort and safety, it features an audio and multimedia more complete. From a base system installation of the B & O AudiA8, through multimedia, it is enough to meet all needs!

iPod, USB, Bluetooth, nothing is missing!

It's been quite some time that we observe the automaker Audi for its audio and multimedia systems, optional or standard depending on its car models. If hitherto the Teutonic mark merely to approach offers aftermarket, it now turns to hunt on his turf with a very complete multimedia system on the Audi A4.

The new generation Audi A4 clearly establishes a new standard for embedded electronics. Various audio systems, TV receiver, two navigation systems, iPod interface, Bluetooth, reversing camera, ... be it entertainment, driver assistance or communication, nothing is omitted. At its launch, the Audi A4 comes in two versions: Ambiente and Ambition Luxury.

Not less than two screens are installed in the dashboard to enjoy the multimedia device. At the top of the center console, a 6.5-inch screen, color of course, gives all indications of the multimedia system, air conditioning or the onboard computer. For the driver this information well in his field of vision, another screen is installed in the counter block between the tachometer and speedometer. The latter display is monochrome, but a color version is optional (standard on the Ambition Luxury finish). See in detail the various systems that can fit A4.

Standard on Ambiente version, the German sedan has an installation of 8 speakers with a power of 80 Watts. Concert radio has 6.5 inch screen of course, but also an RDS Tuner for perfect radio reception, CD player and MP3/WMA compatible SD card. Radio Symphony also offers a 6-CD changer. The system is naturally equipped with a steering wheel. Optionally, the two radios can receive interface AMI (Audi Music Interface) to connect an iPod that will be entirely controlled by the receiver, with on-screen display of 6.5 inches.

With an optional cable, you can also have a USB 2.0 port for plugging in a key of the same name or a portable USB media. The various players in the market use communication protocols with their own. When a model comes out on the market, AMI interface can be modified to control this player.

Navigation, DVD, TV, iPod, Bluetooth, DAB, the Audi A4 can be equipped with a comprehensive multimedia installation with Bang & Olufsen

The DAB is poorly developed among us, but this is not the case in Germany or England. Concert and Symphony Radios can receive an optional tuner for DAB digital radio, a rare proposal as original equipment. In terms of multimedia, we find the MMI system derived from the Audi A8, that is to say a big knob with a few keys around. The MMI is based in behind the gear lever, although under the driver's hand. The customer can choose between two navigation systems: GPS 1 and GPS Plus.

The first mapping uses a CD-Rom with monochrome screen. The CD mapping is housed in the glove box. In the center console, it has the radio with MP3 compatible 6 CD changer. The GPS system uses a color screen More than 7 inches and a mapping DVD-ROM. The optional GPS Plus can be completed by AMI interface for the iPod, a TV tuner and a voice command. For radios and Symphony Concert, Audi offers two audio systems. Either the system 8 speakers we talked about earlier in the article or an optional system to 10 HP for a power of 180 Watts. The installation of 10 speakers is based on the previous system with a subwoofer in more than 26 cm and a center channel. For fans of hi-fi, the A4 can receive installation Bang & Olufsen with 10 active channels, a power of 505 Watts, a sound correction processor and 14 speakers.

Communication are essential to today, the Audi A4 can also receive a Bluetooth system

Radio control car features a pre-Bluetooth device to use hands-free kit for mobile phones. For MMI systems, you can opt for self Bluetooth phone. Once the driver's cell identified by the MMI system of the car, the vehicle system will retrieve data from the SIM card and integrated into the phone to the A4. This provides the hands-free and the benefits of a landline, since the latter is connected to the vehicle's external antenna for better communication quality.
