Nissan chooses NAVTEQ location content for its electric car LEAF


Navteq Nissan will supply a set of data specially developed to offer drivers of the new car, all-electric Nissan LEAF important location information, such as the position of the charging points. These points of interest (POI) were collected from Navteq specifically for drivers of electric vehicles.

The new Nissan LEAF, whose distribution in Europe is expected to start in the first quarter of 2011, supplied with the navigation system Nissan Connect with CARWINGS Integrated with this system, the driver can use the Navteq POI dedicated to electric vehicles, which include essential information such as the position of charging points, details on what type of charger is available (normal or fast) and the number of connectors available.

To ensure accuracy and precision, NAVTEQ updates the information and publish a quarterly basis on the Nissan CARWINGS Data Center, which provides a common platform for global e-services on the same cellular network. LEAF for Nissan, in addition, the company has developed a sophisticated computer system that can connect to the Nissan CARWINGS Data Center and receive dynamic content 24 hours 24.

The Navteq POI for electric cars are currently available for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Spain and the United Kingdom, and is expected to publish expansions for other European countries.
